ADJUSTED OBLIGATIONS FOR HEAVY PACKAGES TO GERMANY

On January 1, 2025, a new Postal Law will go into effect in Germany with modified obligations for heavy packages. The new law requires the sender to add a weight indication on the parcel. It concerns packages of 10-20 kilograms and packages over 20 kilograms.

If you are using My DHL Portal, the label-API or plug-ins, DHL eCommerce will take care of adding the correct weight icons to the label. The sender is responsible for adding the correct weight category on all packages to Germany.

Are you using your own software to create shipping labels? If so, please provide these labels with the appropriate icons by January 1, 2025 at the latest. Your CIM consultant can help you with this.

The icon for your labels on packages between 10-20 kg can be found here.
The icon for your labels on packages over 20 kg can be found here.

These laws and regulations in Germany may potentially affect the tariff and our services. More information on this will follow at a later date. If you have a question about shipping heavy packages to Germany at this moment, please get in touch with your DHL contact person.
