Our measures
Reducing carbon emissions
We want to deliver your parcel quickly and in good order, but we also care about the environment. That is why we are taking various measures to reduce our carbon emissions by, for example, using electric vans, e-trucks or electric (cargo) bikes. As of 2021, we have the largest electric fleet in the Netherlands with more than 2,500 electric vehicles. Where necessary, we use hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO100) - a sustainable fossil-free fuel produced from waste, residual oils and fats.
Stronger together
The only way to make a real impact is to join forces. That’s why we create smart delivery options for you to receive your parcels. You can use the Mijn DHL app to specify where and when you want to receive your parcels – at a DHL locker, or at an agreed place. Our aim is to deliver every order the first time. It’s convenient for you, as it saves us having to make an extra trip to your area. And it’s better for the planet, because everyone does their bit. Besides making deliveries, we’re also keen to talk with our customers, share our knowledge, and give advice about sustainable deliveries.
Reducing carbon, investing in restoring natural resources
Striving for reduced carbon emissions involves tackling the whole chain. We do this by investing in things such as electric delivery vehicles, e-trucks and electric (cargo) bikes. We offset our residual emissions through SGS-certified projects. Such as in Eritrea, where we are repairing and reinforcing wells so that the local population can be confident that the water is safe to drink and does not need to be boiled. This saves an average of 70,000 tonnes of carbon annually.
We also teamed up with SolarLights to bring Save80 stoves to poor communities in Lesotho. These stoves capture greenhouse gases and emit less harmful smoke.
Partners in sustainability
Only by working together, will we make real strides: for example, we’re proud partners of Vinted and Nespresso.
