Use padding material
Prevent damage

Sometimes you need to give fragile products extra protection. You can use all kinds of padding materials for this purpose, such as padding paper and air cushion bags. Always consider the weight and contents of the shipment and make sure that the padding material provides sufficient support. This way you can prevent damage to your shipment.

Buy padding material

Tip 1: A fitted jacket

Void space causes the content to slide and the box to dent. This can ultimately cause damage to products. In addition, excess packaging material makes your shipment more expensive and less durable. Therefore, look at the size and weight of your shipment and adjust the packaging accordingly.

Tip 2: Small, lightweight shipment? Go for an envelope

Are you sending smaller, light and sturdy items? Then choose: a corrugated cardboard envelope, an envelope with a layer of bubble wrap or foam or go for a letterbox box. Handy and economical. You can simply send your envelopes via DHL.

Tip 3: Larger shipment? Adjust the quality of the box

Corrugated cardboard protects your items when shipping. Consider the weight of the shipment and adjust the quality of the packaging accordingly. For a heavier shipment, usually choose double corrugated instead of single corrugated. In addition, make sure items cannot move.

Tip 4: Close tightly

Are your products securely fixed in the box? Great! Then it's now a matter of sealing. Tape is a tool to close your shipping boxes safely and securely. There are different variants, such as printed or recyclable. You can also choose boxes that already have an adhesive strip, sometimes eliminating the need for tape.

How to prepare for shipping
Pallet shipments

Ship large and/or heavy loads of goods safely on a pallet. The tips below will help you prepare your pallet for shipping:

  • Distribute the weight and volume well over the pallet and make sure nothing protrudes outside the pallet. This prevents damage and possible surcharges.
  • Place cardboard profiles on sides and corners.
  • Wrap the pallet and load with stretch film to form a sturdy unit. Ensure a good connection between the pallet and the bottom layer and let the film layers overlap well. This will prevent cargo from falling off.
