This week, DHL and Wehkamp Retail Group jointly inaugurated the new DHL parcel point at Wehkamp's headquarters in Zwolle. The parcel machine is located next to Wehkamp's headquarters and offers local residents, Wehkamp employees and employees of nearby companies the opportunity to pick up their packages close to home and office.
Peter Schukkert (Manager of Delivery at Wehkamp) and Jeff Visser (Manager of Parcel Machines at DHL) opened this latest DHL Locker by symbolically delivering the first Wehkamp parcel into the machine together. A testament to the strong 36-year trusted relationship between Wehkamp and DHL.
“A great addition to the neighborhood,” says Frans Falize, COO at Wehkamp Retail Group: ”At Wehkamp Retail Group, we like to encourage our customers to have their parcels delivered at a ServicePoint. This saves unnecessary transport movements through neighborhoods and also ensures that you can have your package picked up at any time. And now this is also possible at the Wehkamp headquarters in Zwolle. A very nice service for Wehkamp employees, but also certainly for people in the neighborhood.”
With the new pick-up point, there are now 50 DHL ServicePoints in Zwolle where customers can pick up their DHL package, 12 of which are in the form of a locker. With a unique e-mailed or in-app collection code, the automatic parcel machine opens only for the recipient of the parcel in question. Returning or sending packages is done with the same ease. The locker at Wehkamp can also be set as the default delivery option in the My DHL app, which has now been downloaded more than 5 million times. In total, there are 5000 DHL ServicePoints throughout the Netherlands.
Wehkamp donates for every delivery to a ServicePoint
Home delivery costs 1 euro, delivery to a ServicePoint or locker is free. Up-to-date, 40% of Wehkamp's packages are delivered to a package point. That's a tripling compared to two years ago. Something we are very proud of and which is also good for the quality of life in residential areas. Fewer vans and fewer transport movements ensure that the road is free for children to play outside.
Especially to support children playing outside, Wehkamp donates an amount to Jantje-Beton for every package delivered at a package point. Last year Jantje Beton already received 130,000 euros and that will only increase. A typical win-win situation and even more to celebrate.
DHL Lockers are increasingly visible. An easy way to receive and send packages, for all local residents. Are you a business owner and interested in installing a parcel machine? If so, please contact us.
