DHL eCommerce enters the sport of skating by becoming an Official Logistics Partner of Team AfterPay. In skating complex Thialf, Heerenveen, the women's team was presented today in the new skating suit with DHL logo on the chest.
The team consists of seven skaters with Olympic champion Jorien ter Mors as figurehead. The other women are Floor van den Brandt, Bo van der Werff, Anice Das, Letitia de Jong, Janine Smit and Karoliná Erbanová, the European sprint champion. DHL takes care of the logistics around the team, including the training camps and competitions. The first race will be the Dutch Championships Distances in Heerenveen from 27-29 October.
Typically Dutch with international appeal
DHL is getting into the sport of skating to show a wide audience that it is also the logistics service provider for consumers and smaller webshops. Internationally, DHL has extensive experience as an Official Logistics Partner in sports such as Formula 1, FC Bayern Munich and the Rugby World Cup. In the Netherlands, this is now being picked up with Team AfterPay. In this way DHL does justice to the Dutch roots that the parcel carrier has, namely those of Van Gend & Loos (1793). Just like the skating sport very Dutch with international appeal and just like these skaters focused on speed and solid preparation to deliver a top performance. Even the peak period is the same; while the AfterPay ladies work hard to qualify for the Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea, DHL employees make sure everyone has their belongings in time for the end-of-year period. A huge effort with the volumes that are expected.
